'The Crossing' Church Fully Funds India Shelter

Orphan’s Hope World Mission (OHWM) has two shelters in India. One of these shelters—currently located in a rental home—houses 14 boys, but a new building of their own is being constructed, which can comfortably care for up to 25 kids. However, in recent months, our financial partner for this shelter was unable to continue their support of the boys’ home. Because OWHM operates based on a 50/50 cost-share model with our partners, the shelter was put on rocky financial footing for the rest of 2020 and beyond.

Not only that, but the landlord for their rental home wants to force them out so that some of his family members can live there. OHWM was in need of at least a year-long financial commitment from a new shelter partner in order to provide for these boys. Thankfully, God provided and connected OHWM with The Crossing, who has fully funded this shelter through all of 2021.

Located in Columbia, Missouri, The Crossing has a vision “for the transformation of the whole person and the whole of life” as a consequence of encountering Christ. Their vision complements our mission: to provide for the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of orphans across the globe.

In Ephesians 5:1-2, we are told to “be imitators of God, as dearly loved children, and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.” As OHWM and The Crossing strive to imitate Christ’s love, we hope to facilitate even more transformational encounters with Him.

While 2020 has been a year of uncertainty, it has also highlighted our utter dependence on God’s grace, promises, and plan. Amidst the uncertainty, He has provided and has done so abundantly. We are excited for this partnership with The Crossing and what it means for the kids at this shelter. As always, we are excited to continue sharing our work with you as well.
